The short answer

A reputable live wedding band in Ireland typically costs between €2,800 and €6,000+ for a full evening package. A 4-piece 100%-live band, the most common configuration, usually lands between €2,800 and €4,500. Larger line-ups, peak-summer Saturday dates, and remote venues push above that.

MusicAngel packages start at €2,800 for a 4-piece evening set with full PA, stage lighting, and DJ-style music between and after the band's two live sets.

What's included at €2,800+

A standard MusicAngel evening package covers everything most couples need without surprise add-ons:

What changes the price

Date premium

A Saturday between May and September is the most expensive date. Off-peak dates (winter, Sunday weddings, midweek) typically cost 10–25% less. Fridays in peak season often sit between the two.

Line-up size

A 4-piece is the standard. Adding a fifth member (extra vocalist, sax, brass) adds €400–€800 typically. A 6-piece band with brass is meaningfully more.

Whether the band plays 100% live

Bands using backing tracks can charge less because they need fewer paid musicians on the day. 100%-live bands cost more because every harmony, every instrument, every solo is in the room and being paid for. The difference is audible.

Venue location

Most of Ireland is included in standard pricing. Genuinely remote venues, such as Donegal, West Cork, and parts of Connemara, may add a modest travel and accommodation supplement. Reputable bands will be upfront about this when they reply to your enquiry.

Extras beyond the evening band

Ceremony music, drinks reception sets, additional song learning, and extended sets are all common add-ons. Each typically adds €150–€500.

"If a quote feels much cheaper than the typical €2,800–€4,500 range, the band is either using backing tracks, has a part-time line-up, or is undercutting peak demand. None of those is necessarily a deal-breaker, but ask the question."

How to compare wedding band quotes

Apples-to-apples is harder than it looks. When you ask three Irish bands for a quote, you'll typically get back three different package shapes. Compare on these specific dimensions:

Deposit and payment schedule

A typical Irish wedding band booking secures the date with a deposit (€500–€1,000 is common, depending on package). The balance is paid by an agreed date before the wedding, typically 4–8 weeks out. The exact schedule is in the booking contract.

Reputable bands do not require full payment upfront. Be cautious of any band that does.

Pricing in specific Irish counties

Pricing is broadly consistent across Ireland for the same band at the same date, and the band's quote moves more with date and package than with the county. That said, if your venue is in a remote area, expect a small supplement. We cover:

Frequently asked questions

How much does a wedding band cost in Ireland?

A live Irish wedding band typically costs €2,800 to €6,000+ for a full evening package. A standard 4-piece 100%-live band on a peak Saturday lands €2,800–€4,500. Larger line-ups and premium destination weddings cost more.

What's included in a wedding band package?

A standard MusicAngel package includes two 60-minute live sets, DJ-style music between and after, full PA and stage lighting, one new song learned for the couple, and travel within Ireland. Ceremony music, drinks reception, and longer sets are paid add-ons.

Why do prices vary so much between Irish wedding bands?

Three factors: line-up size (4-piece vs 6-piece), whether the band is 100% live or uses backing tracks (live costs more because every member is paid), and date premium (peak Saturday vs midweek).

Do MusicAngel bands include travel costs in Ireland?

Standard packages include travel within most of Ireland. Genuinely remote venues (Donegal, West Cork, Connemara) may add a travel and accommodation supplement, quoted upfront, never hidden.

How big is the deposit and what's the payment schedule?

A booking secures the date with a deposit (€500–€1,000 typically). The balance is paid by an agreed date before the wedding, usually 4–8 weeks out. The exact schedule is in the booking contract.

Can we negotiate a discount on a wedding band?

Off-peak dates (winter, midweek, Sundays) and shorter packages cost less. Reputable Irish bands won't deeply discount peak-Saturday rates because demand exceeds supply, but they will tailor packages to your priorities.
